Academic interests

My main research interests are diversity and biosystematics of lichens and lichen-associated fungi. I study these organisms on a global level, with clear regional focus on Europe, Asia and tropical Africa. My special competence is in the fungal class Arthoniomycetes and the family Graphidaceae. I combine traditional taxonomy with molecular phylogenetics, species delimitation analyses and biodiversity inventories. Fungarium-based research and extensive field studies are integral parts of my academic work.
