Accessibility

We want to facilitate that all visitors have a pleasant experience at the museum. Read about how you can plan your visit.

Parking

  • The museum has parking spaces for visitors with disabilities who have a valid parking permit. For other visitors, it is possible to use residential parking in the surrounding area (for a fee).
  • Parking for visitors with a disability is available outside the Botanical Garden on Monrads gate, right outside the entrance to the museum. There are also parking spaces available within the Botanical Garden, with entry from Sars gate.
  • There are also municipal disabled parking spaces around the museum, see Oslo Municipality's website for a map.

Visitors with mobility impairment

  • Large parts of the Botanical Garden are wheelchair accessible.
  • Some areas in the garden have areas with steep and narrow paths, please see our accessibility map
  • All exhibition buildings are wheelchair accessible and have elevators and dedicated accessible toilets, with the exception of the greenhouse buildings (Palm House and Victoria House).
  • We have two wheelchairs available for loan. If you would like to borrow one, please inquire at the museum shop

Sound and light

  • In the the exhibition "We are in it now" in the Climate House, there is a video projection with occasional loud sound and flashing lights. This lasts for one minute and occurs every ten minutes.

Need for a more quiet visit

  • The exhibitions are usually more quiet before 11 and after 2 PM on weekdays.

Service dog and guide dog

  • Service dogs and guide dogs are allowed in the exhibitions. Other animals are not permitted.
