Ejnar Fischer (1877-1930)

Ejnar Fischer was born in Oslo in 1877 and died on February 8, 1930.

Fischer was an electric engineer by profession and also an amateur entomologist. In 1912 he went to Australia to work for a Swedish-Australian engineering company in Melbourne. He returned to Norway in 1925. His collection of Australian beetles includes about 3500 species, most of them identified. Ejnar Fischer sent some of his specimens for identification to experts in Australia and at the Natural History Museum in London. Based on Fischer's specimens several new species were described. Our collection has syntypes of these species. Fischer's collection also includes specimens collected in Norway.
