Willow sculptures in the Botanical Garden

There are five willow sculptures created by British willow artist Tom Hare located at several places in the Botanical Garden.

All willow sculptures were installed in May 2014 as part of the bicentenary celebrations here at the Natural History Museum. The Viking sheep will spend the winter inside, but all the other sculptures will remain where they are so the public can enjoy how they look different every season.

Moe’s willow bench is the largest installation. It is placed on the spot where Head Gardener Moe planted a scarlet willow (Salix alba var. vitellina) in 1827. Photo: Axel Dalberg Poulsen, NHM

The Apple of Knowledge is located at the Herb Garden and there is a group of mushrooms in the southern end of the Garden. Photo: Axel Dalberg Poulsen, NHM
