Biodiversity data use and application workshop "save-the-date" 22 October 2024

The Natural History Museum MaNa group and Norwegian Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) node invite students, PhDs, postdocs, researchers, and faculty at the University of Oslo for a 1-day workshop on Tuesday, 22 October 2024 (save the date). More details to follow in the autumn!

This event is designed to assist your understanding of biodiversity data usage and data citation. 

By the end of the workshop, you will:

  • Know different ways to access biodiversity data in GBIF.
  • Be familiar with standard cleaning procedures when using biodiversity data in GBIF.
  • Understand the pros and cons of GBIF data usage (compared to other forms of data).
  • Be able to properly cite biodiversity data in GBIF that has been accessed.

Workshop Details

Who Should Attend: Students, MSs, PhDs, postdocs, researchers, and faculty at the University of Oslo who are interested in utilizing biodiversity data in their research or teaching. No prior experience with GBIF data is required.

What to Bring: A laptop, with R & RStudio installed.

Prerequisites: We'll work with R & RStudio during the workshop, but only a familiarity will be needed to follow along with the workshop material.
