A proposal for creating a LTER Norway consortium was submitted to the 2023 national research infrastructure call in Norway.

A proposal for the construction of a Norwegian eLTER participation was submitted in November 2023 to the 2023 national research infrastructure call in Norway. The proposal is based on the Norwegian preparatory phase project (LTER Norway PPP, 2022-2023).

LTER Norway is a network for Norwegian research and monitoring sites engaged in long-term ecological research. LTER Norway is coordinated by the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) and consists of the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NIVA), the Norwegian Institute for Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO), the Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU), the Natural History Museum at the University of Oslo (UiO-NHM), The Arctic University of Norway (UiT), Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI), and the University Museum at the University of Science and Technology (NTNU-VM) in Trondheim.

eLTER RI is a distributed research infrastructure for long-term ecosystem research on the EC ESFRI roadmap (since 2018) with the goal of constructing a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) in 2026.
