• SpArc – Speciation genetics in Arctic plants and searching for cryptic species in the Mediterranean flora

• Status, genetic diversity and stock identity of Spitsbergen bowhead whales

Paleontology

• Spitzbergen Mesozoic Research Group – Late Jurassic marine reptiles (ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs and pliosaurs)
• Systematic description of Carboniferous, Permian and Triassic bryozoans from the Arctic (Nakrem)
• Systematic description of Carboniferous, Permian and Triassic conodonts from Svalbard (Nakrem)

Mineralogy

The research group in Mineralogy and Mineral Resources has several projects within Arctic regions.  The projects span several scientific disciplines and a large  geographical area, including Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Iceland and the mod-ocean ridge systems from the Reykjanes to the Gakkel Ridge.

The group members have been, and are involved in several project, e.g. in Iceland.  Only four of these projects are described here.
