Internships

We offer internship opportunities for international students enrolled in biology, geology or conservation degree programmes seeking work experience at the Natural History museum.

Traineeships through Erasmus+

Students from European universities can apply to do an Erasmus+ traineeship at the museum. The best way to explore opportunities  is by directly contacting potential supervisors.

If you are interested in a conservation internship, contact us at nhm-admin@nhm.uio.no and we will assist you further.

Once you have connected with a willing supervisor, the next step is to outline the internship details in the Erasmus+ Learning Agreement for Traineeships. Your designated supervisor will handle the necessary approval process with the museum and coordinate with the study administration.

Other students

The museum also hosts many students each year outside established exchange programs. This includes PhD, MSc and BSc students. Such research stays or internships are always based on shared research interests, and initiated by the candidate and host. The museum helps to facilitate these stays, but museum funding is available for this and you will not have student status and the same rights as regular students at the University of Oslo. To explore opportunities, follow the same instructions as above to establish contact with someone willing to act as your supervisor. Your designated academic host will handle the necessary approval process with the museum and coordinate with the study administration.
