About Dr Jurriaan de Vos
Jurriaan is a senior scientist and curator of herbaria (BAS/BASBG/RENZ) based at the Department of Environmental Sciences - Botany, University of Basel, Switzerland. His research is at the interface of evolutionary ecology and macroevolution. He tests hypotheses concerning evolutionary and ecological processes that generate extant plant diversity by reconstructing macroevolutionary trajectories of trait and lineage diversification using phylogenetic comparative methods. He is particularly interested in understanding the evolution of plant reproductive traits and adaptation to extreme environments. He is also interested in herbaria and the history of botany.
