Heidrun has been a part of GEco the past four years, and on monday, June 18th she defended her thesis: 'Land cover mapping: methods and quality'.

The ceremony was led by Research Director Fridtjof Mehlum in the Geosciences building on Blindern campus. A trial lecture was held at 12:15 on the topic 'Changes in the flora and vegetation of Norway due to global warming. What are the implications for nature Conservation?'.

Thanks are due to the committee and opponents who contributed to an interesting and meaningful scientific discussion:
Associate professor Niina Käyhkö, University of Turku, Finland
Dr. John Janssen, Wageningen University, the Netherlands
Professor Hans Arne Nakrem, Natural History museum, University of Oslo

Heidrun has been integral to GEco's work with the NiN project and many other NHM activities, both scientific and social. She has also been an amazing colleague, and we wish her the very best in her future career.
